This is a question that has plagued me for many forevers. The values it spits out are 100% invalid for anything more interesting than a base VW Golf or made in numbers less than infinity. I can't find any info on the net about the witchcraft going on in that little blue website but I suspect it just guesses based on nothing. Legendary C5R for your time.

In all seriousness, they are based on surveys of sales managers. they are opinions of people willing to take part in the surveys.

So how do they figure the difference between a car with all the options but heated seats, and then a car with all the options? Just assign an arbitrary cost of heated seats in a used car?

Purdy much.

Ccc uses historical sales data, nada does some historical and some survey, but last i checked kbb is really survey heavy.
